What a treat we just had during our Alaska experience. They received us with warmth from the minute we got down from the floatplane, chalet was well maintained, clean rooms, spacious closets, hot water.. their amenities are so comfortable and warm. Location right across the beautiful lake Chelatna is amazing. Nature at its best. Their dining room is amazing. Chef Tom is amazing and he whipped up healthy food for all meals. Their service was 5 star- We went on kayaking one day, thoroughly enjoyed our company with our guide Brogan Next day we went on a very difficult hike (knee cap) accompanied by Brad, skilled and friendly. We made it to the top and trail was very edible with berries and all kinds of flowers. Our dining room hosts were super- We enjoyed playing with Luis-(their dog) Last but not the least, Matt and Emily were great hosts with nothing but warmth. Thank you for creating the safe haven for people like us to enjoy the nature while still enjoying the normalsy. Their early morning coffee at the door was such a fantastic start for the day. Creating this place was not an easy joke. I saw all the historic photos. Wow just speechless. Go with open mind, enjoy the place and serenity. They even had starlink wifi at the main lobby.

My first Alaska Adventure was perfect at Chelatna Lake Lodge! I was looking for a remote, comfortable, beautiful location to experience the nature of Alaska and Chelatna hit the nail right on the head. Amazing landscape, knowledgeable owners, guides, hospitality staff, and chef. I learned to fly fish for the first time and my personal guides made me feel confident and safe in the wilderness and rivers of Alaska. This place is truly breathtaking in its beauty. The fishing for Graylings, Northern Pike, and Rainbow Trout was plentiful! If you are looking to get away and really experience nature in its glory, this is the place to go. I stayed for one full week and everyday was full of activity from fly fishing in waders up to my waist, to crossing streams knee deep to get to awesome fishing spots, to kayaking on the pristine lake, to white water rafting down river, to having lunch in the bush every day. The list goes on and on. I loved every minute of my stay and didn't want to leave! Chelatna I will be back!

Fantastic time. Father son trip. It was EPIC. Positives- people that helped us reach EPIC. Thank you go out to Brie, Chris. Brie was a fantastic guide. Strong personality that kept us moving. Chris is a do all at the Lodge, super helpful. More positives- helicopter tour was EPIC. - airplane ride over was perfect. Rooms in all honesty were clean and well kept. Service people were off the charts. All guides were approachable and kind. We all laughed ALOT! I only have one negative: food was a 5 out of 10. Current chef lacks ability.. Pink chicken, under cooked rice, usage of the same spices over and over. Daily to go meals for fishing were poor. Quickly set up. Meaning a a PBJ would have been better. Dinner meals were full of butter. My wish would be that the owners would modify and go back to good wholesome foods. The chef was trying to create a fancy food twist with an off grid fishing lodge. Saying the one negative would not deter me from going again. Matt and his wife are amazing owners.

Chelatna Lake Lodge is a perfect Alaskan lake-front lodge, accessible only by sea-plane, nestled in the mountains of the Denali National Park. The fishing, hiking and boating is epic. Matt the host is awesome, Tom the chef is truly top notch but the best has to be the fishing and nature guides who are epic! Hayden’s Bush Bash was a one-of-a-kind hike (and thanks for the fishing flies) but the award goes to LUKE, the best guide ever! See you down in NZ baby. Sweet as…

We have just returned from 4 fabulous (Sept.4-8, 2025) nights at Chelatna Lodge. What a marvelous experience! Emily and Matt have a well-oiled operation! From the float plane to the guides to the chef and the Early Elves who deliver coffee to our chalet. We were lucky enough to have Johan be our guide. He was extemely patient with the two of us (late 70's) who had never fly fished before. He is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the Alaska life: fish, terraine, history, weather. Everyone pulls their weight and made sure were were comfortable. Chef Sean and his food are unbelievable. Portions were huge, beautifully presented, delicious and a culinary delight. He is not a cook, but a chef extraordinaire. We loved all the attention we received from Emma (safe sailing!), Allison (follow your dreams!) and Steven the Nomad. We were lucky to be there the same time as Paul Nicoletti, photographer and booking coordinator. And the rest of the gang: Mac, Chris, Troy, Jacob, Trevor, Brad, Johan (sorry we missed someone!) The pilots of the float planes were experienced and tuned into safety. And sitting in the hot tub overlooking the lake was a memory we will not forget! Thank you to all, Bill & Nancy Shearer

My nephew, Chris and I enjoyed our first visit to Chelatna Lake Lodge in August. The setting near Mt. Denali is spectacular, with mountains all around the lake and Lake creek. The flight from Anchorage to the lodge is beautiful and a trip highlight. We're serious fly fishers and were not disappointed. We had great days fishing Lake Creek, Sunflower Creek, Coffee Creek, and also a little fishing on Lake Chelatna and a northern pike slough. The fishing variety is important to me, and this place delivered. We had a nicely maintained cabin to ourselves, a short walk from our boat, the guide shack, dining cabin, and a sauna, which I really enjoyed as each day ended. Other highlights of our trip were the excellent food (chef Sean is first rate!) and the high level of friendly service, from owners Emily and Matt to the housekeeping/food service staff and fishing guides (we had a first-year guide from California named Cody: excellent). With Emily greeting us at mealtime and her obvious attention to detail, the hospitality at this lodge is outstanding. I noticed some kids with parents at Chelatna Lodge and realized how family-friendly this place is. Having stayed at tent camps in Alaska and other hard-core fishing lodges here and in Canada (over a dozen), I'd say Chelatna is the most kid and family friendly by far. I hope to bring a grandkid or 2 with me on a future trip to this wonderful place.
